Shero Spotlight: Becoming the Best of Me

Shero Spotlight: Becoming the Best of Me

God inspires me to keep moving—His strength and peace anchor me.”

Meet Gina Igbodor, a Fashion Designer and an ardent member of our community, she belongs to the Calabar Sister Circle and has been a vibrant member inspiring women to play golf, little did she know that this would be the beginning of something beautiful.

For this remarkable woman in our community, the journey to rediscover herself began in the quiet places of reflection and prayer. She had dreams—bright, burning dreams—before she got married. But somewhere along the line, life’s demands, the weight of marriage, and the fear of the unknown dimmed her light. She began to simply exist, not live.

But that’s not where her story ends.

She found a safe space in our community—especially within her sister circle—where shared experiences reminded her that she wasn’t alone. The voices of other women became mirrors and sounding boards. Their strength ignited her own. She began to ask herself deeper questions: Who was I before I became a wife? What dreams have I left behind?

“I had to remind myself that I am an asset,” she says. “But I wasn’t treating myself like one.”

Overwhelmed and unsupported, the emotional toll began to affect her health. Depression crept in, and with it, a sense of isolation. But in the stillness of prayer, she found her turning point. “God gave me peace. He helped me shift my focus from what I couldn’t control to what I could.”

And everything began to change—from her family life to her business. She stopped trying to force change and started investing in her own healing. She realized that peace isn’t passive; it’s a decision. “When we focus rightly, even our spouses begin to make efforts—without pressure, without coercion.”

She worked through the pain. She performed her duties even when her heart was heavy. She found strength in her mother’s unwavering support. And one day, she looked in the mirror and saw joy staring back. No more medication. No more pretending. Just progress. Just peace. Just her—healed and healing.

“I’ve become the best of me, and I’m very happy. I know there is still more to come.”

In our community, we believe no woman should do life alone because life is designed for us to navigate better which each other.

We hope this story inspires you to challenge yourself and take charge of your life but most importantly, not attempt to navigate life on your own. Watch out for the next Shero spotlight.

This is so beautiful. I love the point she made about the voices of other women in her community becoming mirrors and sounding boards and how she connected to their strengths.
It’s so heart warming that women are now sisters not rivals.
